About Our Organization

Thank you for visiting the webpage of the Instituto Latino de Cuidado Pastoral, Inc. (Latino Institute of Pastoral Care, Inc.). We are delighted that you have taken the time and opportunity to visit our website and learn more about our mission, history and current programs. As you will note from perusing our history, the Institute was begun one day prior to September 11, 2001 (9/11) by the founder and Executive Director, the Reverend Dr. Rebeca M. Radillo, with a dream and her American Express card.

The Institute, a faith-based non-profit organization which offers a diversified training program for Latino clergy and laity, as well as community leaders, was established for the purpose of educating and supporting congregational leadership in pastoral care ministry and promoting the healthy integration of individuals and families into the life of the community. The training made available by the Institute, which is presented in both Spanish and English, has enabled clergy, laity and community leaders to gain the necessary knowledge and to develop the essential skills and expertise to address in a responsible way the needs of individuals, families, churches and communities.

I am amazed at the number of people in the Greater New York area whose lives have been touched by the Institute. Our ministry was initially housed at La Resurreccion United Methodist Church in the South Bronx and in December of 2005, we moved to our current location at the Church of The Village (United Methodist) on the Lower West Side of Manhattan.

Our staff consist of myself as the Executive Director and Betty Purkey who serves as the Program Coordinator. In addition, we have a consultant staff training team comprised of Luis Alymeda, the Reverend Felipe Cortes and the Reverend Miriam Shelton, Pastor, Psychotherapist and PhD. candidate. We offer training events and workshops to churches, community organizations, individuals and couples on a variety of subjects.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or would like additional information about the services that are available through the Institute. We will be delighted to hear from you.

Special blessings on you!

The Reverend Dr. Rebeca M. Radillo
     Founder and Executive Director
